Having the perfect garden is something that most homeowners want, however, it sure does take time, money and a lot of planning and passion to get there. It is a lot easier these days as you can practically buy any tree or plant you like almost anywhere. The internet has also made finding nurseries online a whole lot easier as they stock a great range of plants and trees that can all be delivered to your door. Below we will go over a few tips and tricks you can use when you are looking to buy plants either in stores or at nurseries online.

Nurseries Online

The first thing you want to do is make a plan of what trees and plants you actually want for your space. Get a pen and some paper and either draw a rough plan on what trees you want to plant and where or construct a list of plants and trees you are looking for. This will make the buying a looking process a lot more straightforward and will save you a lot more time. If you are unsure of where to look try nurseries online first, they stock a bigger range than smaller stores so the chances of you finding something you like are greater.

If you can’t find the plant you want, you might be tempted to pick something similar, this is a mistake so many people make. Just because a plant may look similar does not mean that it will grow similar. It may need extra care or it could make more of a mess. It could also grow a lot smaller or larger than what you want, so make sure you do a little bit of research before buying just any plant or tree as you may get more than you bargained for.

Before buying a plant or tree from nurseries online, make sure you check their quality agreement. While it is quite rare to be sent something that is not of great quality, mistakes can happen. To avoid these mistakes you should always buy from a trusted website and make sure that they have a return policy that is clear on unhealthy plants. You shouldn’t have to pay full price for a product that doesn’t quite cut it.

Once you receive your plants, you should always try to plant them in the first day or two, plants always do better in the ground than in pots. Sometimes this is not an option with things such as busy lifestyles or weather getting in the way. If this is the case make sure that you store them carefully and make sure to take care of them until you can transfer them into your garden. You should always store your plants and trees in a cool, shady place and water them daily.

Don’t rush to plant them if you have soil that is waterlogged or frozen as plants won’t survive in those conditions. The same goes for places that might be going through a drought as the soil is not moist enough to nourish plants. You should once again store your plants away until the conditions have improved. A great way to make sure that your plants and trees thrive is by preparing the soil yourself with water compost.
