Though women make the headlines with their carefully combined outfits more than men mostly because we men tend to be simpler beings and prefer our simpler sneaker-based outfits, things have started changing. And how can they not when we have so many options of footwear to choose from nowadays?

Regardless of the occasion, having adequate footwear can immediately add points to your outfit and make heads turn along the way. Even if not all women would admit, they sure like the sight of a nicely dressed man.

Okay, moving on, it’s not that sneakers aren’t stylish, it’s just that urban style boots are classy and not rarely sneakers make you seem like you’ve come from a jogging session. Despite what it may appear, boots are the year-round fashion staple and not only made for the colder days.

From the classy desert boots, and the casual tone of chukka, to the iconic Red Wing iron rangers, there are many ways you can upgrade your wardrobe so why not get a pair of each?! Here’s a word about the three, a tip on how to wear them, and of course, take care of them every once in a while to prolong their durability.

Desert Boots

Surprising or not, desert boots are urban style boots that go all the way back to WWII, particularly made for the tough climate the military was facing in the desert, so they originated in Cairo and quickly took over the world thanks to the specific design and materials, making them ideal even for the warm days of the year when you need to keep your feet cool.

Though they go with spring and summer, it’s not exactly summer outfits they are ideally matched with but rather jeans (e.g. smart denim) and light jackets making them perfect for autumn also, so the advice is anything navy paired with these boots, particularly the lighter coloured boots. A word of caution is not to wear these boots in wet weather if they are suede and brush them off from time to time to remove dirt and spray them with suede protector. If they are made of leather, wipe them with a cloth.

Chukka

There’s often confusion with chukka and desert boots, and it’s not difficult to see why, deserts came from the chukka model. Unlike chukka the deserts have a rubber sole, easy to spot.

Chukka urban style boots are ideal for casual as they are for smart looks, ideal for navy, black, brown, white top and pants combinations, so you’re not colour restricted. On top of this, chukkas are incredibly comfortable, just remember to keep them in good shape by regular cleaning according to the material they’re made of.

Red Wing Iron Rangers

These boots have been around for more than a hundred years and they continue to amaze with their design. It’s a known quality that started out as worker’s boots, so they don’t only age well, they perform well too.

The iconic boots go well with iconic worn-out denim and plaid shirts, the typical casual or work combination, but don’t be fooled by their raw appeal, they can be paired with classy outfits too and spice them up with the rugged look; think, chinos or corduroys with a classy white shirt. Accessories like hats and scarves are also more than appreciated.
