Finding the right torch is not as hard as it may seem. Having the right knowledge and knowing what to look for when buying a torch is all you need. Torches are essential items for some and just handy things to have around for others, so your needs might not be the same as someone else’s. Knowing what you need out of a torch including what you use it for, the torch brightness, and torch size, are only a few things you should consider. We will be covering all this below so if you want to know what kind of torch would be the best choice for you and your needs keep reading.

  1. What do you need it for?
This is the first thing you should sit down and think about. If you just need a torch for around your house then you probably don’t need the most expensive model. If you are someone who goes hiking or help with search and rescue, then your needs will be a little different. There are so many torches on the market that do different things. Some come with long range vision and different levels of brightness so you should determine what you need the torch for first.
  2. Choose brightness and size
The torch size you choose should be based on how comfortable you are carrying it and how comfortably it sits in your hands. If the torch is too big and heavy then you will probably struggle carrying it around for longer periods of time. The brightness should also be chosen on how far you want the light to go. For someone who is just looking for a torch to have around in their home then you don’t really need the brightest torch. Someone who hikes, on the other hand, may need something with a good distance and brightness.
  3. Consider other features
Torches come with plenty of added features as well so you should make sure to choose the ones that may come in handy. Someone who hikes or takes the torch outdoors may need a waterproof feature just in case you get stuck in the rain. This means that you should choose a torch that is made from appropriate materials like rubber or if you are looking for something more durable, you can find torches made from stainless steel.
  4. Choose the right battery
Torches also come with a range of battery options that you can choose from. Some use alkaline batteries, some use lithium batteries, and of course, you have the choice of using a rechargeable battery. Alkaline batteries are a great choice because you can find them anywhere but they do run out pretty fast, lithium batteries do not run out that fast but can be a little harder to find, and rechargeable batteries are a good choice for someone who needs their battery power to last but it is the priciest option out there.
  5. Stick to a budget
Make sure you know how much you can afford to spend on a torch. Just like anything else, you really do get what you pay for. Forking out a little extra money will probably get you a better quality torch, but if you don’t need one for specific reasons you should just buy one that is in your price range. Hopefully, after reading this article, you feel more confident in choosing the right torch for your needs.
