Furnishing your home exactly as you want it has never been easier as now you have the freedom to choose between different furniture designs. Gone are the days when the classic furniture design was the only choice we had. That being said, more choice can also mean more confusion, so let’s go though some of the most commonly heard design terms and how they differ from each other.

Ever since its appearance in 1930, the Scandinavian style hasn’t ceased to amaze us with its simplicity, beauty and comfiness. Natural materials like wood, hemp and leather are what gives the contemporary Scandinavian furniture a homey and warm look which in combination with some abstract art pieces on the walls and faux fur rugs or throws can create a truly magical atmosphere. What you can create with this style is a place filled with nature-inspired pieces thanks to the remarkable wooden contemporary Scandinavian furniture that in fact is the core aspect of this style. In fact, interior designers encourage people to go natural when designing their home the Scandi way, so they advise not to be afraid to implement wooden floors and even wooden walls. Keep in mind that Scandinavian design is all about pale muted colours that go great with some pop of colour like baby pink and even fuchsia.

All in all, the Nordic furniture designs is all about clean lines, classic beauty and the use of high-quality material that can help you create a comfortable, simple and aesthetically pleasing space. Whether you are looking to redesign your whole home or you want to change up the style of one room, you can do it with its exceptional selection of furniture.

The mid-century design, on the other hand, appeared in the mid ’50s but it became more popular thanks to Cara Greenberg’s book “Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s”. This type of furniture also has clean lines but they are accented with curvy angles. Generally speaking, this type of style is all about incorporating bold colours, patterns and prints which makes it completely different from the airy and clean Scandinavian style.

Contemporary design is a combination of all current and present designs and they change from year to year. For example, if a design was considered contemporary in the ‘2000s, it can now can be considered vintage, simple as that. Simply put, contemporary design is continually changing because of the emerging of new ideas, materials and resources.

Ever since a child, his love for books of mystery, race cars and travelling keeps on growing so it's difficult for him to single out that one all-time favourite hobby. If there's one thing he hates, though, it's having pictures taken but you already guessed that from his choice of plant photo for the blog.
