New Truck Parts

The Pros

  • Perfect Fit – When buying new replacement parts for your truck from the manufacturer or licensed dealer, you can be sure that it will fit perfectly. And the perfect fit equals superior truck performance.

  • Extended Warranty – The benefit of buying a brand new replacement part is the extended warranty. In the case the replacement part breaks during the warranty period, you will get a new one at no cost.

The Cons

  • More Expensive – When compared with used parts, new truck parts cost much more. So, if you are not financially prepared for future vehicle repairs, this cost can become a real problem.

  • Potential Wait – The main disadvantage of buying new replacement parts is that very often you will have to wait a while before receiving them. This is because many large replacement parts need to be ordered and shipped directly from the manufacturer to the local auto store. This usually takes few business days.

Used Truck Parts

The Pros

  • Large Selection – Buying used truck parts means greater selection of replacement parts that are immediately available. This is because auto repair shops have plenty of vehicle parts that are no longer roadworthy.

  • Cost – Used parts cost at least half of what you’ll have to pay if buying brand new ones. So, if looking to repair your vehicle on a budget, take advantage of the low-cost used replacement parts.

The Cons

  • Limited Warranty – Since used truck parts do not come directly from the manufacturer, there is only a limited supplier guarantee. Some used parts may still be under the original warranty, but are also more expensive.

  • Limited Lifespan – As the name implies, used truck parts have shorter lifespan because they have already been used.
