The tower crane is a lifting machine that can be found on every large construction site, and it plays a central role in the construction industry. There is a huge demand for large tower cranes Australia models because they are very efficient and capable of performing different kinds of lifting tasks. The tower crane is the most commonly used for lifting and moving large loads, such as construction materials and construction equipment. But the tower cranes Australia models are used not only in the construction industry, but also in transportation and cargo industry because it is stable and its base is fixed to the ground.

A typical tower crane consists of a base, a mast section, a jib, a slewing unit, a crane house and a cabin. There are many types of tower cranes for sale, and each one is used for a specific application. The two main tower cranes Australia types are:

Self-Erect Tower Crane

– A tower crane designed to be easily and quickly transported and assembled. Most self-erect tower cranes for sale come with their own generators.

Assisted Erect Tower Crane

Both tower crane types feature different jib configurations. The two main types of jib designs are:

  • Luffing Jib;
  • Horizontal Jib;

Luffing Jib

The luffing jib is usually installed on the assisted erect tower cranes. These cranes are used in situations where circumstances do not allow using a horizontal jib tower crane. It does not have a trolley, and its main advantage is that both jib and the suspended load can be kept away for avoiding intrusion in unwanted areas. The length, height and the winch type of the luffing jib can be customized. This means each user can choose different luffing jib tower crane depending on the nature of the work.

The luffing jib is slower than the horizontal jib, especially when the lifting operation requires frequent radius alterations, or when the luffing winch needs to move the weight of the load and the jib. There are tower cranes for sale that come with automatic winch units, but they are a bit more costly when compared to other models. Additionally, the luffing jib tower cranes for sale provide maximum lifting capacity to minimum radius.
