The reason parents love cubby houses is the fun they provide while promoting development of motor and social skills in children. The two most common types of cubby houses are: indoor cubby house and outdoor cubby house. Both models provide a place for play and entertainment, and differ only in few specification and use. For example, kids favorite activity when at home is making indoor cubby house by using sheets, blankets, pillows, toys etc. which they attach to the wardrobe or place over the table and chairs, making their secret place to hide and play.

Another option for making such miniature house is by using any kind of large box which is no longer needed in the house. Therefore, recycle appliance box into a creative indoor cubby house. You can make this a family DIY projects for rainy weekend. Let your kids choose paint and color the box. Adorn it with few accessories such as window frame, curtain, door knob, few pillows, etc. Your kids can use it to play with toys or eat super healthy snacks. Let their imagination run wild.

An alternative to an indoor cubby house is an outdoor cubby house. You can either buy a fully equipped cubby house or build one, if you have the skills. Today there are various kinds of outdoor cubby houses available in almost any toy store. They come in different colors and with different accessories like slides, swings, tunnels, climbing rock wall, ball rope, etc. Regardless of color, designed and features, all outdoor cubby houses are extremely durable and safe.

If your backyard is big enough, building a cubby house from scratch would be a fun family project. Such kind of construction delivers excitement in children because they can contribute and help in the making of the perfect cubby house. They can help you carry materials, paint the walls of the house and shop with you for various accessories. If your budget allows, it is best to design and build a wooden cubby houses. They are water and flame resistant and are certainly more appealing than the ones made out of high quality plastic material. If you do not have the time but have the money, then by all means invest in a wooden cubby houses since kids need to spend more time outside. It is better than watching television at home.

The cubby houses can fuel kids creativity and boost imagination and help in proper development of motor, social, problem solving, reasoning and other physical and mental skills. In the end, it is not very important what kind of cubby house you get as long as it provides hours of fun and entertainment.
